This sterling silver collection, "Strange Woods" was made using the natural materials and mediums found along in my travels. Full of inspiration from the woods that I grew up in, you'll find details like small bronze and sterling leaves, moss agate stones in some, as well as hand carved elements like my lost wax sculpts in others. One piece even containing my hand carved iron wood face held in a sterling twig bezel finished with one of my sterling twig chains, lovingly named "Iron and Folly".
The focal point of this collection is the "Forest Dweller" set. The Forest Dweller bracelet was originally a feature for a contest hosted by Lion Punch Forge and Net Creative Designs and it won second place. Along with the sterling silver elements, these foxes represent the cleverness and curiosity that I feel as I approach each new challenge.
I've been using this collection as an experiment with visuals and finding my balance with stone inclusions. Through these pieces, I'm pushing the constructive envelope with elements such as the sterling twigs, the newest being the "Druid's Cathedral" pendant. Taking inspiration from gothic cathedral structures but with the natural forms in the sterling twigs, I plan to take this work further with some upcoming projects involving my love for the woods as well as the magic of classic fairy tales as inspiration.
